Dixie Chicks Unapologetic, Releasing New Album

If you remember, 3 years ago, The Dixie Chicks stirred up a bunch of shit at a London concert when band member Natalie Maines said they were ashamed that President George W. Bush was from Texas. Redneck country fans everywhere freaked the hell out. Now most folks used the reason that country fans are "patriotic" and thus, the Chicks should know better. Now, since I have common sense, I know "patriotic" doesn't mean I have to LIKE the current president. But we're not talking people who HAVE common sense, we're talking the backwoods country fans who think Larry the Cable Guy is funny. (Not all country fans, people. Just the stupid ones who went and got the Dixie Chicks banned from country radio.)

Anywho, after the hoopla, Natalie and company apologized for the remark, which really, didn't do anything to sway the rednecks' opinions. Now 3 years later, they've retracted their apology, and are releasing a new album. I've heard that most stations are STILL refusing to play them. My hometown of St. Louis, which is republican hell, has a country radio station that has already said their listeners have been emailing and calling to not play them.

The Dixie Chicks should just go pop, seriously. Nobody cares that Madonna or Trent Reznor don't like the prez. In fact, most fans of theirs are pretty intelligent, and already disagree with the prez. I for one, WILL buy the new Chicks CD, I don't need a radio station to tell me what to do. Go girls!

Anywho, picture is from the article and interview with them in the latest issue of Time magazine.
